Molds, a subset of the fungi, are ubiquitous on our planet. Fungi are found in every ecological niche and are necessary to recycle organic building blocks that allow plants and animals to live. The group “fungi” are yeasts, molds, and mildews, as well as large mushrooms, puffballs, and bracket fungi that grow on dead trees. Fungi need external organic food sources and water to be able to grow.

Mold is a microscopic organism found virtually everywhere, indoors and outdoors. Mold can be found on plants, foods, dry leaves, and other organic materials. Cellulose materials are also susceptible to mold growth, such as cardboard, paper, ceiling tiles, and sheetrock. Mold spores are easily detached and made airborne by vacuuming, walking on a carpet, or sitting on a couch. In indoor environments, mold can grow in air conditioning ducts, carpets, pots of houseplants, etc.

 

Mold removal using ozone. The mold removal process involves a procedure similar to pesticide gassing, except we do not need to “tent” the building.

We bring into the structure hoses that are connected to the machines outside. We start in the overhead attic or crawl spaces to clean all insulation. We then introduce ozone into the ductwork so to clean and purify the AC system, as the ducts are an ideal distribution system for mold spores. We treat the entire home and contents. In the end, you have a pure and safe building with no chemical residuals.
